Okeyinka Israel
Okeyinka Israel is a dedicated climate change advocate and environmentalist, whose primary focus lies in harnessing the potential of the circular economy through waste transformation. He bagged a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science and Resources Management, and currently pursues further studies with a research focus on sustainability, waste management, sustainable agriculture, circular economy, and climate change mitigation.
Driven by his profound love and passion for environmental sustainability, Israel actively volunteers for the esteemed FABE International Foundation, particularly contributing to the EcoSchoolsNG project. The project is targeted at the realization of six SDGs (SDGs 1,2,3,4,12, and 13) and serves to promote climate action by educating students, especially those in low-income Secondary schools and communities in Lagos and Ogun state Nigeria become environmentally sustainable.
As the team lead for this initiative, he successfully trained more than 4,000 students in essential waste management skills, including food waste composting, recycling, and upcycling. These endeavors not only help to minimize waste but also address air, land, and water pollution, fostering an environmentally conscious mindset among both teachers and students. Moreover, Israel's exceptional dedication, resilience, and effective knowledge transfer led him to be recognized as the outstanding EcoSchoolsNG Volunteer of the year in 2021.
Israel exudes enthusiasm and unwavering motivation, consistently advocating for creative solutions and championing a sustainable and zero-waste environment, as well as biodiversity conservation. He remains committed to raising awareness about sustainable development goals and actively promoting sustainability in all aspects of life.
