TotalEnergies Marketing Boosts Welfare, Emergency Response of Firemen in Apapa
As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, TotalEnergies Marketing Nigeria Plc has enhanced the emergency response time and welfare of the firemen at the Federal Fire Service, Marine beach, Apapa, Lagos, with the donation/handing over of a 10,000-liter capacity Braithwaite overhead aluminum tank, and bunk beds.
“In handing over these projects to the Apapa Fire Service Station, TotalEnergies Marketing Nigeria Plc has fulfilled a commitment we made during our last Stakeholder Relationship Management (SRM+) engagement with the Apapa Fire Service Station,” the Managing Director TotalEnergies Marketing Nigeria Plc, Dr. Samba Seye said during the commissioning of the facilities at the Marine Beach, Apapa Station on Thursday, August 11, 2022. Present at the occasion were community leaders, government representatives and other stakeholders.
The facilities are:
- A 10,000-litre capacity Braithwaite overhead aluminum tank, with stanchions.
- Six units of adult double bunk beds with full accessories (mattresses, pillows, and bed linens) while the rooms where the beds were installed were given a fresh paint.
Underscoring the fact that Safety is a core value of the company, Dr. Seye who was represented by the Executive Director/Secretary General, Mrs. Lesley Baxter-Green, explained that “during the engagement, in agreement with the personnel of the Fire Service, we identified the need for a reliable and adequate water holding facility for the Federal Fire Service. In addition, there was a dire need to ameliorate the sleeping condition of the Firemen who work, day and night, to ensure fire safety in the Apapa community and its environs.”
The Managing Director expressed optimism that “improving the sleeping condition of the firemen will enhance their welfare and boost their morale to continue giving their best to our dear country.”
Expressing gratitude to the company, the Ojora of Ijora, Oba Abdulfatai Aremu Aromire, said that the gesture is a relief to the people. “I’m just using this opportunity to ask all other companies in this vicinity to emulate you people and do the sort of things you are doing. God bless you.”
Similarly, the Operational Commander of Zone F, Assistant Controller, Oduyele Adelaja, represented by the Zonal Commander, Federal Fire Service Zone F, South-West Command, Lagos, Chika Njoku, commended the company for the gesture, assuring that it will have a positive effect on the response time and morale of firemen. He solicited the extension of same facilities to the other fire stations.
In her remarks, the Executive General Manager, TotalEnergies Country Services, Mrs. Bunmi Popoola-Mordi reaffirmed the company’s commitment to constantly be in touch with her stakeholders given the positive correlation between the progress of the company and that of her stakeholders.
