69 Benefit from TotalEnergies Marketing Nigeria Plc Youth Empowerment Scheme

At least 69 youths have benefited from the TotalEnergies Marketing Nigeria Plc youth empowerment scheme. The Managing Director of the company, Dr Samba Seye, disclosed this at the presentation of Skills Acquisition Program (SAP) Starter Packs to 2021 beneficiaries in Koko, Delta State recently.

“All you require to run a viable Small and Medium Scale Business has been provided,” Dr Seye said as he implored the beneficiaries to make the most of the work tools, stressing the critical role youth empowerment and community development play in the development of a nation.

The beneficiaries were sponsored to one year fully paid capacity building programme on vocations of their choice at certified training centres in the Niger Delta region. The package includes two-year shop rent prepaid for them as well as comprehensive starter packs procured and installed for each of the beneficiaries. 

“The TotalEnergies Marketing Nigeria Plc Skills Acquisition Program is a sustainable youth development program where less privileged youths of our host communities are trained in vocations of their choice. The vocations which include but not limited to; Welding & Fabrication, Furniture Making, Catering, Hair Dressing & Makeup Artistry, Fashion & Designing, Fish farming, Computer Studies etc. Since its inception in Koko in 2006, the program has, with today’s graduation, empowered 69 beneficiaries in the community,” Seye explained.

He said the company was driven by a commitment “to solving challenges associated with the Sustainable Development goals through our actions and contribution towards meeting them.” Stakeholders from the Nigerian Mid-stream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Agency (NM&DPRA), community members and representatives from Warri North Local government were present to witness the presentation.

The occasion was preceded by a selection of the 2022 batch of beneficiaries who have commenced training to graduate in 2023.  Community leaders in Koko, where the company has a blending plant, and the Company representatives collaborate as part of a monitoring apparatus to ensure the success of the programme.
